Some twitters do's and dont's: PT:1

Twitter do's and dont's PT:1

I have been twittering around, reading, and making my own evaluations. These are strictly my opinion and some of them are just pure common sense. This is going to be multiple part series as I continue my research.

1.) DO NOT SPAM: (Not only is a violation of their T.O.S, it is ineffective, tacky, and a huge marketing NO NO.)

2.) Auto replies via Twitter tools: I get allot of auto replies from people who I follow. I really do not agree with this technique. It has no personal appeal, and is kind of lazy if you ask me. NOW here's the other side of it. If you have an auto reply, and still contact the person directly, that's OK by me. If your just sending out hundreds of auto replies daily, with no follow up, that's just mass marketing. It may be effective, it is just not my cup of tea.

3.) 80/20 Theory: What is this? If your on twitter for business, I recommend posting personal tweets as well. If all your ever posting is a link to your business idea, or affiliate link, you will lose credibility. Strike up some conversation with people, retweet their beneficial tweets, share pertinent information with people. They in turn will follow you, and be more apt to view your links in the future.

4.) BE GENUINE: There are allot of marketing techniques going around that simply just state to do things that are honest and genuine. I see a problem with this however. If everyone starts adopting these philosophies, who is going to be genuine, and who is just following a marketing strategy? (This can apply to #3 above.)

That is all for today my friends, stay tuned as I will bring you more in the immediate future. Please share your comments and opinions.

Retweet and tweet again

Retweeting? What is it?

Well it is the equivalent of a shout out, great quote, good info, a digital HIGH FIVE of sorts.

I joined twitter, and was like... OK? We post things people read them, maybe, and hopefully it will stick to someones ribs.

RETWEET: Give people the nod they deserve for the tweets they are posting. This in turn shows that you are a productive part of the community, and will strengthen your reputation.

If you are going to retweet, read the post, the link they posted, retweet something you find interesting and that others will benefit from. I retweet allot of blogs I find informative and quotes that are inspirational.

This form of "Pay it forward" works in conjunction with the energies of the universe. Give and ye shall receive I believe.

My last post touched on TWEET DECK. This tool will simplify all the functions of twitter for you, and help you tweet like a pro!

Stay tuned for our next post, where we will be talking about keyword tags, and replies.
